Interscholastic Beach Volleyball League

Welcome to the IBVL Select Girls' Club BEACH Volleyball program where clubs and schools compete in ISF/CEV 2v2 Dual Match Competitions in cooperation with the Interscholastic Beach Volleyball League. Open to clubs and schools nationwide.

In International School Sport Federation (ISF) terminology, there are two categories of competitions, "School" and "Select". School refers to teams made up of athletes from the same school and Select refers to teams that can be made up of athletes from different schools.

IBVL Select Club Beach events leads to the ISF Pan American Beach Volleyball Championships

Apr. 12-13 - San Diego ISF Club Invitational - Mira Costa College, Oceanside, CA (18:U and 16:U - Two Pairs)

May 31-June 1 - ISF Pan American Beach Volleyball Cup - North Beach, Santa Monica, CA (18:U and 16:U - Two Pairs)

Jan 24-25, 2026 - West Coast Championships = Hermosa Beach, CA (18:U Open - Five Pairs / Club - Three Pairs) - moved from 2025 date

Standard FIVB rules of play in effect. Matching uniforms with unique uniform numbers may be required in some competitions

Two Pairs Rules

Clubs or Schools are made up of two pairs to form a team who compete in dual match competition with the stronger pair in the #1 classification. Some competitions allow to include five or six players on a roster to allow for replacement of players in subsequent matches. 

If a team wins both matches, then the match is decided. If the match is split, then a "Golden Set" is played to 15 points to determine the winning team. The Golden Set can consist of any combination of the four players participating (if a roster is used, then only the players competing in the dual match may compete in the Golden Set).

In a two-day format, each match is a best of three match. In a one-day format, a match is played either one set to 28 or 21. 

Five Pairs / Three Pairs Rules:

Standard club/scholastic/intercollegiate rules apply. Pairs are entered in order of strength and the match results of which club wins the most pairs within the match wins the dual match.

Coaches may coach during a side change, time out, during a dead ball or in between sets and must be seated on the sideline of the team. A mandatory experiment is in place allowing coaches to interact with players while seated on the sideline.  During a side change, coaches may not enter the court and must move with the athletes and not delay competition. During a time-out, coach may enter the court. Coaches may call a time out. During mandatory experiment competitions, each coach may have to provide a beach chair.
